ROHS Policy
East Coast Microwave recognizes the need to provide cable assemblies and connector products that are in compliance with the European Union's directive 2002/95/EC, Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).
The RoHS directive is currently scheduled for full compliance by 1-July 2006 in the member states of the European Union to reduce and/or eliminate hazardous materials and other substances from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), with the ultimate goal being to better protect the environment. While RoHS is a European Union (EU) Directive, its effects are far-reaching, as all manufacturers of EEE products outside Europe must conform to this legislation if the equipment they produce is to be imported for use into a EU member state. The RoHS directive restricts the use of certain hazardous substances commonly used in the manufacturing of electronic equipment and requires manufacturers of electronic equipment to reduce the concentration of certain hazardous materials, by July, 2006, to the following acceptable levels. (by weight) These include:
- Lead (Pb) < 0.1%
- Mercury (Hg) < 0.1%
- Cadmium (Cd) < 0.01%
- Hexavalent Chromium (CrVI) < 0.1%
- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB) < 0.1%
- Polybrominated Diphenyl Esters (PBDE) < 0.1%
